The fourth incarnation in the series now hits the BlackBerry, in the shape of Sid Meiers Civilization IV: War of Two Cities. The aim of the game is to take command of rival cities bywiping out their soldiers, destroying their buildings and pillaging their resources.
You start by choosing to play as one of four armies (Rome, Japan, Russia, or USA) and selecting one of three difficulty levels. A lengthly tutorial will then take you through all the controls, rules, and objectives of the game, explaining everything in a clear manner.
Once you start the game you'll realize how very simplistic the gameplay is - you send out troops who walk towards the opponent and they do the same, they clash in the middle and the army who gets to the other end first claims the opponents city. You also have at your disposal the ability to fire cannons at your enemies to inflict more damage. It's all a bit slow-moving at first, but once you progress through the game it becomes more engrossing as you build up resources and skills and are faced with tougher battles.
The graphics in Sid Meier's Civilization IV: War of Two Cities are small but fairly detailed and the sound effects are pretty good.
Sid Meier's Civilization IV: War of Two Cities isn't the most advanced or technical war game but it's an easy one for strategy newbies to pick up and play.
